El Nino Fidencio, born Jose de Jesus Fidencio Constantino Sintora on October 17, 1898 and died October 19, 1938, was a Mexican curandero, or folk healer, venerated today chiefly through the Fidencista Christian Church; the Catholic Church does not recognize him as a saint. He learned herbalism and healing from a priest and janitor during his school years and later settled in Espinazo, in the state of Nuevo Leon, where his healing work attracted thousands of seekers. His devotional following spread through northern Mexico and the southwestern United States, and he is venerated today as a folk saint associated with healing, cures and protection from disease, with a major shrine at Espinazo and a feast day of March 19.
