All Modern State Wars and Insurgencies

Gathers the wars and civil conflicts of the nineteenth and twentieth century state system that carried a significant religious dimension without being fought primarily as a war of religion: the Crimean War's own origin in a dispute over custody of Jerusalem's Christian holy places, the American Civil War, the twentieth century's Vietnam War and Cold War, the two World Wars, and the civil wars and insurgencies of Lebanon, Sudan, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, Bosnia, Tajikistan, the Central African Republic and Northern Ireland, together with the Partition of India, the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian and Iran-Iraq conflicts, and the Boko Haram insurgency. A member belongs here for being organized as a modern state or insurgent conflict whose religious dimension runs alongside, rather than beneath, a national or ideological one.
