Apus

Apus is one of the 88 modern constellations recognized by the International Astronomical Union. Its genitive form is Apodis, its standard abbreviation is Aps, it is traditionally shown as The Bird-of-Paradise. It belongs to the Bayer family of constellations. The constellation covers about 206 square degrees of sky, ranking 67th in size among the 88. Its brightest star is α Aps (Paradys) at apparent magnitude 3.83. It borders Triangulum Australe, Circinus, Musca, Chamaeleon, Octans, Pavo and Ara.
