Dorado

Dorado is one of the 88 modern constellations recognized by the International Astronomical Union. Its genitive form is Doradus, its standard abbreviation is Dor, it is traditionally shown as the dolphinfish. It belongs to the Bayer family of constellations and lies in the first quadrant of the southern hemisphere. The constellation covers about 179 square degrees of sky, ranking 72nd in size among the 88. Its brightest star is α Dor at apparent magnitude 3.27. It borders Caelum, Horologium, Reticulum, Hydrus, Mensa, Volans and Pictor.
