Lynx

Lynx is one of the 88 modern constellations recognized by the International Astronomical Union. Its genitive form is Lyncis, its standard abbreviation is Lyn, it is traditionally shown as the Lynx. It belongs to the Ursa Major family of constellations and lies in the second quadrant of the northern hemisphere. The constellation covers about 545 square degrees of sky, ranking 28th in size among the 88. Its brightest star is α Lyn at apparent magnitude 3.14. It borders Ursa Major, Camelopardalis, Auriga, Gemini, Cancer, Leo and Leo Minor.
