Horologium is one of the 88 modern constellations recognized by the International Astronomical Union. Its genitive form is Horologii, its standard abbreviation is Hor, it is traditionally shown as The Pendulum Clock. It belongs to the La Caille family of constellations and lies in the first quadrant of the southern hemisphere. The constellation covers about 249 square degrees of sky, ranking 58th in size among the 88. Its brightest star is α Hor at apparent magnitude 3.85. It borders Eridanus, Hydrus, Reticulum, Dorado and Caelum.
