Leo Minor is one of the 88 modern constellations recognized by the International Astronomical Union. Its genitive form is Leonis Minoris, its standard abbreviation is LMi, it is traditionally shown as the lesser Lion. It belongs to the Ursa Major family of constellations and lies in the second quadrant of the northern hemisphere. The constellation covers about 232 square degrees of sky, ranking 64th in size among the 88. Its brightest star is Praecipua at apparent magnitude 3.83. It borders Ursa Major, Lynx, Cancer and Leo.
