Vulpecula is one of the 88 modern constellations recognized by the International Astronomical Union. Its genitive form is Vulpeculae, its standard abbreviation is Vul, it is traditionally shown as the Fox. lies in the fourth quadrant of the northern hemisphere. The constellation covers about 268 square degrees of sky, ranking 55th in size among the 88. Its brightest star is α Vul (Anser) at apparent magnitude 4.44. It borders Cygnus, Lyra, Hercules, Sagitta, Delphinus and Pegasus.
