Fox Spirits (Mythical Creatures)

Fox spirits of East Asia that can take human form, such as the Chinese huli jing and the Japanese kitsune, which may be tricksters, lovers or messengers of the god Inari. An entry belongs here when its article describes a supernatural fox. The group page lists related creatures together so that a reader can compare how one kind of being appears across cultures and stories. Entries are placed by what their own article says, so each one sits in the narrowest group that its source supports, and the group page lists it beside the other members.
