New Thought Churches

The New Thought churches recorded in this atlas, denominations of the New Thought movement, a new religious movement that coalesced in the United States in the early nineteenth century and now a loosely allied group of denominations, authors and individuals who share beliefs about metaphysics, positive thinking, healing and the presence of Infinite Intelligence, or God, everywhere. This group holds Divine Science, Religious Science (Centers for Spiritual Living), Unity (Unity School of Christianity). Unity, Religious Science and Divine Science are separate churches that each grew from this movement and keep their own founders, teachings and publications. Placing these churches together lets a reader compare one church family at a time and follow how each body describes its own governance, worship and history.
