Numbers 0 to 9

Gathers the ten cardinal digits, the root numbers every larger number in this section reduces to under the digit-sum method several numerological systems here use, a two digit or longer number's own digits summed repeatedly until one digit remains. Zero and the nine digits from one through nine that follow it carry the largest and most independently attested body of meaning of any numbers in this atlas, since a compound number's own significance is very often inherited from, or built by multiplying and adding, one of these ten: three lifts two into the plane in Pythagorean number theory, seven is called the virgin number within the decad, and larger scriptural spans such as twelve and forty are read partly through what they reduce to. A member belongs here for being one of the ten cardinal digits themselves, the foundation every compound number in the bands below is read against.
