All Oceans (Bodies of Water)

The great oceans of the world as they figure in religious thought, boundaries of the known world, realms of sea gods and routes of migration and mission. They are the largest bodies of water on the planet and recur in creation accounts and cosmologies. Navigators, missionaries and traders crossed them, and their depth and extent shaped how many cultures pictured the edge of the world and the home of sea deities and the dead. Members placed here so far include Indian Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean.
