The two main branches of the Theosophical movement founded by Helena Blavatsky and Henry Olcott: the Theosophical Society Adyar and the Theosophical Society Pasadena. An organisation belongs here when its cited article describes a society that traces itself to the original Theosophical Society. It excludes other esoteric movements and the interfaith movements, which have their own group. A later fill lane places an entity here only when a source states that membership in words.

The Theosophical Society was founded by Helena Petrovna Blavatsky and others in 1875. The designation 'Adyar' is sometimes added to the name to make it clear that this is the Theosophical Society headquartered there, after the American section and some other lodges separated from it in 1895, under William Quan Judge.
