Peoples whose traditional religion is mostly open to description but includes some specific elements, rites or teachings that remain closed to outsiders. This differs from closed ceremonial knowledge, where the restricted material is the tradition's defining ceremonial core, in that here the closed portion is a limited part of an otherwise openly documented practice. A tradition where the entire practice is entered only through formal initiation belongs instead under one of the initiatory groups below, since the restriction there covers the whole practice rather than select elements of it.
