Shinto, Roman and Mesopotamian Purgation Rites

State and temple rites that clear a community of pollution: the Shinto great purification of Oharae, the Mesopotamian namburbi rites against evil omens and the Roman Argei rite of casting figures into the Tiber. A ritual belongs here when its cited article describes a community purification of one of these ancient or Shinto cultures. It excludes personal exorcism. Examples in the atlas include Oharae.
