The sacred sites of Rastafari, the Afrocentric religious and social movement that arose in Jamaica in the 1930s around the belief that Emperor Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia is a divine figure. Shashamane, a settlement in Ethiopia's Oromia region built on roughly five hundred acres of land Haile Selassie granted in 1948 to the Ethiopian World Federation, is the movement's central site of repatriation, drawing members of the African diaspora who wished to settle in what Rastafari holds to be the promised homeland.
