Protestant Reformation Events

Protestant Reformation Events groups five events recorded in this atlas as episodes of the sixteenth-century Reformation, the major theological movement in Western Christianity that, in Wikipedia's own words, was a major theological movement in Western Christianity in 16th-century Europe that posed a religious and political challenge to the papacy and the authority of the Catholic Church hierarchy. Wikipedia also notes that the Reformation was not a uniform and coherent historical phenomenon but the result of parallel movements, a description that fits the diversity of the members gathered here: the Diet of Worms, where Martin Luther's teaching was formally confronted by imperial authority; the Dissolution of the Monasteries, the English crown's suppression of monastic institutions; the English Reformation and the Scottish Reformation, the parallel national breaks from Roman obedience in the two kingdoms; and the Radical Reformation, the more thoroughgoing wing that rejected both Rome and the mainstream reformers alike. Each remains its own recorded event; this group node exists to gather them under the shared kind-of-event facet.
