Society of the Holy and Undivided Trinity

Anglican Religious Communities
Origin from 1849

The Society of the Holy and Undivided Trinity was an Anglican religious order for women founded in 1849 by Marian Hughes, the first woman to take religious vows in the Church of England since the Reformation, as part of the Oxford Movement's revival of Anglican monastic life. Based in Oxford, England, the society opened a purpose-built convent on Woodstock Road in November 1868 and ran schools including Holy Trinity Convent School, founded 1857, and St Michael's School in Cirencester. It ceased operating in 1956, when its remaining nuns joined the Community of the Holy Name at Malvern Link, and its former convent buildings now form part of St Antony's College, Oxford.
