Biala is a Hasidic dynasty originating from the city of Biala Podlaska, where it was founded by Rabbi Yaakov Yitzchak Rabinowicz (1847-1905). It is a branch of Peshischa Hasidism, since its founder was the great-grandson of Rabbi Yaakov Yitzchak Rabinowicz, known as the Yid HaKadosh, the first Peshischa rebbe; originally spread across many Polish towns, the dynasty's name became synonymous with the entire lineage after the Holocaust, and it is today concentrated in Israel, the United States and Switzerland.
