The scripture of Samaritanism, a tradition distinct from Judaism though sharing common ancient roots, chiefly the Samaritan Pentateuch, a text differing from the Jewish Torah in a number of readings, the Samaritan Book of Joshua and Memar Marqah. It is grouped separately from the Jewish Scriptures nearby because Samaritans do not accept the wider Hebrew Bible and read a Pentateuch textually distinct from the Masoretic tradition.
