All Schism

This group holds the lasting institutional splits, among them the Digambara and Svetambara schism in Jainism, the East-West Schism between Rome and Constantinople, the First Fitna in early Islam, and the Western Schism among rival papal claimants. It excludes controversies that were argued but did not produce a permanent split, which are filed under Controversy.
