The thirty roughly equal parts, or juz, into which the Quran is traditionally divided to let a reciter complete the entire text over a fixed cycle, most commonly one juz a day across the thirty days of Ramadan. Each juz cuts across surah boundaries wherever the text's length requires, so a single juz can span the end of one surah and the beginning of the next; the division is a reading and recitation convention rather than a division of the text's own subject matter or authorship. Each juz is further divided into two ahzab, covered in this same subcategory's Hizb heading.
