The gods of the Scythians, Iranian-speaking nomadic and semi-nomadic peoples of the Eurasian steppe from roughly the ninth to the third century BCE, known chiefly through the Greek historian Herodotus's own account of Scythian religion and through steppe burial-mound archaeology. Scythian deities were largely identified by Herodotus with Greek equivalents, a complex androgynous fertility and sovereignty goddess prominent among them.
