Anzar is the rain and water god of Berber, or Amazigh, mythology in North Africa, understood as the giver of the rainfall that Berber communities depended on for survival. According to legend Anzar fell in love with a woman who rejected him, and one of the oldest Amazigh rain rituals, known as Anzar's bride, involves carrying a decorated effigy through villages while women chant for rain during drought.
