Seasonal festivals observed within Shinto practice, the doll festival Hinamatsuri, the star festival Tanabata, itself adapted from a Chinese origin, and Shogatsu, the Japanese new year. Tanabata and Shogatsu in particular are widely marked in Japan as secular or folk custom as much as religious observance, so grouping them here as Shinto reflects one framing among several a source might use.
