Sutras

Discourses in the Buddhist and Hindu traditions, from the short Heart Sutra to the Lotus Sutra and the Diamond Sutra. The word names a form before it names a status, a terse thread of teaching meant to be memorised and then opened out by commentary, and the atlas files by that form. Whether a given sutra is canonical, and in whose canon, is recorded on its own page rather than in this heading.
