The sacred sites of Tengrism, the sky-god centered belief system historically practiced across the Central Asian and Mongolian steppe by Turkic and Mongolic peoples, and still followed today in revived and living forms. Burkhan Khaldun, a mountain in the Khentii range of northeastern Mongolia, is Tengrism's best documented sacred site, held by tradition to be where Genghis Khan prayed to Tengri, the sky god, and it remains a site of reverence today, protected as part of the wider Great Burkhan Khaldun Mountain landscape.
