The gods of Teotihuacan, the pre-Columbian city in the Valley of Mexico that was one of the largest urban centers in the ancient Americas at its height in the first half of the first millennium CE, known almost entirely through its monumental architecture, murals and iconography rather than through any deciphered written corpus, since the city's own language and writing system remain unidentified. Its religious imagery centers on a female deity modern scholarship calls the Great Goddess, reconstructed from mural and figurine evidence rather than from a named textual tradition.
