All Whirling

A whirling sacred dance is built around sustained spinning turns, most familiar from the Sufi sema of the Mevlevi order, where the turn itself is the practice, a repeated physical act used to induce a contemplative or ecstatic state rather than to tell a story or embody a spirit.
