Anglicanism Holds Fourteen Claims Its Own Way
Fourteen claims in this atlas are held with a distinct account, differing from Anglicanism, meaning not agreement and not refusal but a distinct account of its own. Eleven are books; three are doctrines at the center of live Christian argument.
Read, Not Ruled
Eleven deuterocanonical books, among them Tobit, Judith, and the Wisdom of Solomon, sit outside both of Anglicanism's neighbors' positions. Rome and the Orthodox churches hold them as scripture; the Reformed tradition generally excludes them outright. Anglicanism's own Thirty Nine Articles keep them for example of life and instruction of manners, without using them to establish doctrine, a third position the atlas records as its own claim rather than folding it into either side.
The Same Middle Way on Doctrine
The other three variant claims sit inside live Christian arguments rather than beside them. Apostolic succession, the unbroken line of ordination Anglicanism claims and teaches, is a requirement Rome itself judged Anglican orders to fail in 1896, a ruling Canterbury still disputes. On grace and atonement, Anglicanism's own via media keeps more of the older Catholic inheritance than most Reformation churches while sharing Protestant convictions on scripture, exactly the shape a distinctly held account is built to record: not agreeing with one camp, not refusing the question, holding it differently.
