The Brotherhood of Saint Gregory is an Anglican Communion community of friars, called Gregorians, dedicated to combining prayer, study and service to the church under the motto Soli Deo gloria, to God alone be the glory, aiming to emulate Gregory the Great as servants of the servants of God in both church and society. It was founded on 14 September 1969, Holy Cross Day, by Richard Thomas Biernacki in New York and formally recognized that year by Bishop Horace Donegan of New York, and it is open to both married and unmarried men in the Episcopal Church and the wider Anglican Communion, who may live with families, alone, or in small communities and work in diverse fields worldwide. A parallel Sisters of Saint Gregory was established in 1987, and as of August 2024 the brotherhood counted 40 professed members and one postulant, gathering twice yearly for prayer and discussion.
