Creature and Symbol

The entries stay close to what the sources actually say. A mythical creature entry records the culture it belongs to, the kind of being it is, and what the myths and bestiaries report, rather than blending many cultures' dragons into one. A spirit-animal entry stays with what a given tradition holds about an animal, since practices around sacred and totem animals vary enormously and generalisation flattens them.

Many creatures recur across cultures in related but distinct forms, and the entries note the parallels while keeping each tradition's version its own. The creatures group by kind (serpents, birds, hybrids, water-spirits and the rest), so a browser can move through the bestiary by type.
