Denise Jarvie's own account of how she came to Reiki, meditation and tarot work begins earlier than her professional biography usually states: she has described emotional difficulty stored since childhood that had developed, by her late twenties, into anxiety and depression, and says it was around age thirty that she turned toward meditation and a spiritual path in direct response to that difficulty, a personal turning point that precedes The Mystical Tree, her Reiki training and every deck she has since published under her own name.
That account reframes her professional credentials, Reiki master teacher, meditation teacher, holistic counsellor and tarot master, and her membership in the International Institute for Complementary Therapists, as a path built out of personal necessity rather than career planning from the outset. Her own bibliography also carries a title her main biography does not name specifically, The Flower of Life: Wisdom of Astar Oracle, alongside the better known Secret Language of Light and Darkness oracles and the Mandala Healing Oracle.
Jarvie's own telling treats the anxiety and depression as the origin point her later practice grew from, not a separate detail alongside her professional credentials; the spiritual path she now teaches through The Mystical Tree, and the tarot master title she now holds alongside her Reiki and counselling credentials, are presented in her own author materials as continuous with, rather than separate from, the personal difficulty that preceded them by roughly a decade.
