The Fourth Pinnacle

The Fourth Pinnacle is the last of the four life-periods of modern numerology, governing the final and longest phase, from the close of the third period to the end of life. It is calculated by reducing the birth month and the birth year and adding them, and it names the dominant theme of the concluding years. As the culminating Pinnacle it is read as the period in which the native lives out the accumulated lessons of the earlier phases, often associated with wisdom, consolidation and the final expression of the life's purpose.

The four Pinnacles together give numerology a way of describing how the character of a life changes over time, complementing the fixed core numbers with a moving sequence of phases. The whole scheme belongs to the Pythagorean system assembled in the United States from around 1900 and refined across the twentieth century; it is modern, and the Pythagorean name it bears is conventional rather than a record of any genuine descent from Pythagoras or antiquity.
