Seven Layers of a Field

Hands of Light sets out a system in which the human body is surrounded by an energy field Brennan describes as organized into seven distinct layers, each associated with a different quality of experience, from the most physically grounded layer nearest the body outward to layers she associates with higher spiritual awareness, and each interpenetrating and interacting with the seven main chakras this atlas already records elsewhere. Brennan presents the system as something she perceives directly through trained clairvoyant sight developed over years of clinical healing work, describing specific colors, textures and disturbances she reports seeing in a given layer as corresponding to specific physical or emotional conditions in the person she is working with.

The book's healing method follows from that diagnostic picture: a practitioner is taught to sense disturbances or blockages in the field with their hands and attention, and to work to clear, balance or rebuild the field's structure, on the premise that the energy field's condition underlies and precedes physical health rather than merely reflecting it. Brennan frames much of this in the vocabulary of energy and field physics, terms drawn from her earlier training as an atmospheric physicist with NASA before she moved into healing work, while other parts of the presentation are explicitly clairvoyant reporting rather than anything physics as a discipline would recognize as its own claim. The book keeps those two registers, technical-sounding energy language and first-person visionary description, running side by side throughout rather than fully merging them.
