Hizb 57 opens with the whole of Al-Mulk, Sovereignty, praising God's dominion over creation and repeatedly challenging the listener to find any flaw in the ordering of the heavens, before describing Hell's guardians questioning its inhabitants about the warnings they ignored in life. Al-Qalam, the Pen, follows, defending the Prophet's character against the charge of madness and telling the parable of garden owners who withheld charity from the poor and woke to find their garden destroyed overnight.
Al-Haqqa, the Inevitable Reality, and Al-Maarij, the Ascending Stairways, describe the Day of Judgment in vivid terms, the destruction of Ad, Thamud, Pharaoh's people and Noah's drowned generation, the record of deeds received in the right hand or the left, and a Day whose length is likened to fifty thousand years, alongside a description of the qualities that mark successful worshippers.
The hizb closes carrying the whole of Nuh, Noah, describing his mission and his long, patient calling of his people across an extraordinary span of time, and his final prayer, worn down by their obstinate rejection, asking that not a single disbeliever among them be left on the earth.
The garden parable in Al-Qalam echoes a similar warning against withheld charity found earlier in this account's coverage of An-Nahl and Al-Waqia, a recurring image across several suras that later commentators read as a deliberate, repeated caution rather than an incidental overlap of subject matter.
