Between 27 July and 7 August 2022, the Anglican Communion held the fifteenth Lambeth Conference, the once a decade gathering of its bishops, in Canterbury, England.
It was the Communion's first Lambeth Conference since 2008, after the conference originally scheduled for 2020 was postponed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby convened the conference under the theme God's Church for God's World, opening with a service at Canterbury Cathedral on 31 July 2022, at which the Right Reverend Vicentia Kgabe, Bishop of Lesotho, preached and bishops processed through the cathedral's Great West Door.
Sessions were held across the University of Kent's Canterbury campus, Canterbury Cathedral and Lambeth Palace, drawing roughly six hundred bishops and their spouses from around one hundred sixty five countries, representing the Communion's provinces across Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and Oceania.
What the 2022 Lambeth Conference changed for the Anglican Communion's own gathering rhythm was restoring the once a decade meeting after a fourteen year gap, the 2020 conference's pandemic postponement stretching the interval since 2008 well past its usual decade before Canterbury was able to host the fifteenth conference.
