An All-Volunteer Model Across 52 Countries

This article records tradition as it has been passed down and reported. Its sources are not yet part of the atlas's verified catalogue.

Humanity First states its guiding principle plainly: aid on the basis of need alone, irrespective of race, religion or politics. What distinguishes its operating model from many humanitarian charities of similar reach is that it is staffed entirely by volunteers under the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community's khilafat structure. No staff are paid, so donated resources go directly to relief and development work rather than to salaries, across the 52 countries where the charity is registered.

That volunteer model has scaled alongside the charity's own growth: founded in 1994 and formally established in 1995 in response to the Bosnian War, it now runs disaster relief, medical, clean water, orphan care and vocational training programs spanning dozens of countries, having registered separately as a legal entity in each as it expanded, including as a United States 501(c)(3) organization in 2004.

The charity's continuing association with the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community was affirmed publicly in November 2025, when the Community's worldwide head addressed Humanity First's own thirtieth anniversary international conference, thirty years after the crisis that prompted its founding.
