Founded in Response to the Bosnian War

This article records tradition as it has been passed down and reported. Its sources are not yet part of the atlas's verified catalogue.

Humanity First is an international humanitarian relief and development charity established in London in 1994 under the guidance of Mirza Tahir Ahmad, then worldwide head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, taking shape that year and formally founded in 1995 in response to the humanitarian crisis of the Bosnian War. Its stated guiding principle is to provide aid on the basis of need alone, irrespective of race, religion or politics.

The charity later registered separately in dozens of countries, including as a United States 501(c)(3) organization in 2004, and today runs disaster relief, medical, clean water, orphan care and vocational training programs across the countries where it operates. It is staffed entirely by volunteers under the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community's khilafat; no staff are paid, so donated resources go directly to relief and development work in the 52 countries where the charity is registered.

Three decades after its founding, Humanity First's own United States chapter describes itself as having deep roots in the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, and the Community's worldwide head addressed Humanity First's thirtieth anniversary international conference in November 2025, affirming the two remain directly associated.
