A parody religion still needs an organization to carry it, and Stang built one: the SubGenius Foundation, the business entity behind the pamphlets, books and merchandise that keep the joke funded and in print. Book of the SubGenius in 1983, High Weirdness by Mail in 1988, Revelation X in 1994, and decades of the syndicated radio program The Hour of Slack, produced continuously and distributed through the same underground and, later, digital channels that carried the movement's zines. Stang moved the operation from Dallas to Cleveland Heights and later to rural Texas without the output slowing, and he later taught at the Maybe Logic Academy, an online school built around ideas from Robert Anton Wilson that share the SubGenius taste for treating belief itself as raw material. The durability is the part worth noticing: mock religions from the same underground scene mostly did not survive their own novelty, and this one has now run continuously for over four decades on the strength of Stang's own labor as its publisher, editor and public voice. The Foundation relocated again in 2017, from Cleveland Heights to Glen Rose, Texas, without interrupting the pamphlets or the radio show, and Stang added to the print catalog in 2006 with The SubGenius Psychlopaedia of Slack. Cleveland Scene magazine named him Best Crack Pot Preacher in 2000, a local nod to a persona built for exactly that kind of joke to land.
