One of Several Names for the Irish Otherworld

Early Irish literature names several apparently related but distinct Otherworld realms, including Mag Mell, Tir na nOg, "the land of youth", and Tir Tairngire, "the land of promise", and Celtic scholarship generally treats these as overlapping regional or textual variants of a single underlying Otherworld concept rather than as sharply distinct destinations with different rules, since individual medieval Irish manuscripts are not fully consistent with one another about how many such realms exist or how they relate. This atlas keeps Tir na nOg and Mag Mell as separate entries, reflecting their distinct textual names and associated story cycles, while noting here that the two are best understood together as part of one broader early Irish Otherworld tradition.
