This degree is a gap in the older catalogue, as recorded here. Charubel, the pen name of the Welsh astrologer John Thomas, published The Degrees of the Zodiac Symbolised in 1898, giving nearly every one of the 360 degrees its own image half a century before the American set now generally used; for Pisces 24 the public domain record carries no Charubel wording, and rather than paraphrase a substitute from any later source, the absence is stated plainly. Gaps of this kind are themselves informative, a reminder that the degree catalogues are human documents with uneven coverage rather than revealed systems. What this degree certainly has is structure.
In the second century scheme of Vettius Valens each sign divides into three ten degree faces, and this degree stands in Pisces's third, ruled by Mars, while the unequal Egyptian bounds preserved in Ptolemy's Tetrabiblos also give this span to Mars, drive doubled in the zodiac's last sign. The first complete run of degree pictures survives in Johannes Angelus's Astrolabium Planum of 1494, and the imagery most modern readers attach to this degree descends from the 1925 sitting in Balboa Park, where Elsie Wheeler produced a scene for every degree and Marc Edmund Jones recorded them, publishing in 1953; Dane Rudhyar's 1973 restatement in An Astrological Mandala remains in copyright and is not reproduced here. Where a natal placement or progression falls on this degree, the older structural attributions still apply, and the missing image is honestly noted rather than invented.
