Padmaprabha is the sixth Tirthankara of the present age, his name meaning "bright as a lotus." His emblem is the red lotus, and Jain iconography accordingly shows him with a reddish complexion, one of a small number of Tirthankaras distinguished by colour in devotional images. He is venerated as a fully liberated, omniscient teacher among the twenty-four ford-makers of the current cosmic age.
The tradition places him in the sacred antiquity of the avasarpini, before the reach of documented history, and holds that he attained final liberation at Sammeta Shikhar (Shikharji). Apart from the emblem and complexion, the name, and the shared framework of the five auspicious life-events, the sources preserve little further detail particular to him.
The five kalyanakas, conception, birth, renunciation, omniscience and liberation, are marked in Jain cosmology by simultaneous celestial disturbances, a trembling of the hells and a brightening of the world, regardless of which Tirthankara they attend, a structural repetition the tradition applies uniformly across the twenty-four rather than varying by figure. Padmaprabha's own five events are recorded within this shared framework; beyond the emblem, the reddish complexion and the traditional life-events already noted, the canonical sources supply no further individuating narrative for him.
