Gaither Pratt coined recurrent spontaneous psychokinesis in 1958 while investigating the Seaford, Long Island case centered on a twelve-year-old boy, proposing that poltergeist disturbances were unconscious psychokinetic discharges by a person, often a young person, under significant emotional strain, rather than the work of a discarnate spirit. The RSPK model reframed the phenomenon within psychokinesis research rather than survival research, but it did not resolve the central evidentiary weakness: no poltergeist case has produced its characteristic disturbances under conditions that ruled out the identified person's physical access to the objects and locations involved, and RSPK was never accepted as a demonstrated mechanism by mainstream psychology or physics, remaining, by Roll's own account, a minority position even within parapsychology. Several well-documented cases collapsed under exactly this kind of scrutiny: hidden cameras or close observation caught the central figure in some celebrated poltergeist cases physically producing effects, throwing objects or manipulating props, by hand when they believed themselves unwatched, most notably in later investigations of cases similar in structure to Rosenheim and Seaford. Bender's own Rosenheim investigation itself never ruled out physical involvement by Schneider despite extensive documentation, and the case is cited on both sides, as suggestive evidence of a genuine anomaly by some parapsychologists and as an unresolved, methodologically limited investigation by critics who note that Bender's team did not maintain continuous, unbroken surveillance sufficient to exclude ordinary physical causes throughout.Cross-Tradition ConnectionsArticle OnPoltergeist Phenomena, Psi Phenomena Well-attested Source Divinity Atlas Long-Form Articles, First Editiontier 1SourcesDivinity Atlas Long-Form Articles, First Editiontier 1Comments (0)No comments yet.
