Sacred sites of ancient Egypt
This group holds the sacred sites of ancient Egyptian religion, the temples, tombs and sacred precincts raised along the Nile over three millennia for the gods and the divine pharaoh. Egyptian sacred architecture is among the most monumental of the ancient world.
The browser will find the great temple complexes, the necropolises and the cult centres of the Egyptian gods. The entries describe each site's deities, function and history, treating them as monuments of a historical religion no longer practised.
