Selina Fenech was born in 1981 and has lived near Sydney, Australia, for most of her career. She began drawing seriously around age seven, took up comics as a teenager, and studied graphic design at university before leaving conventional employment to become a full time, self employed artist at twenty three.
Her early break came at sixteen, when she posted artwork to an online gallery and unexpectedly began receiving fan mail, print requests and commissions, well before social media made that kind of direct audience building common. She started her art business formally in 2002, working across watercolor, acrylic, ink, pastel and digital media, with recurring subjects of fairies, mermaids, unicorns and dragons that have made her one of the more widely licensed fantasy artists working today, appearing on books, magazines, stationery, jewelry and figurines worldwide.
Beyond illustration she is also a published novelist, and her fantasy novel Memory's Wake won awards after its 2011 release. Her fantasy paintings have been adapted into multiple oracle card decks distributed through Blue Angel Publishing, extending her audience from gallery and licensing sales into the divination card market. Fenech's career, built from a teenage online gallery post into a full time multimedia art business without formal art school training beyond university graphic design, is documented consistently across her own publisher and licensing pages.
