Thanh Giong's cult sits within the broader Vietnamese pattern of venerating heroic ancestors and protector spirits as active, honoured presences rather than distant historical figures, a pattern that runs consistently across the whole set of Four Immortals and connects Vietnamese folk religion directly to themes of national defence, moral virtue and communal identity that continue to resonate in the country's religious and cultural life today.
