The six original figures entered circulation through a single book, Healing Codes for the Biological Apocalypse, published in 1999 by Leonard Horowitz with Joseph Puleo. The account given there is that Puleo recovered the numbers from a passage in the biblical book of Numbers by applying a numerological reduction to the verse references, and identified the results as a lost scale. Three further figures were added to the set later by other writers, giving the nine usually listed today.
That is the documented provenance, and the atlas records it because it is checkable. The claim made alongside it, that these are an ancient or Gregorian scale suppressed by the church, is a claim the same book advances rather than an independent finding, and no source predating it has been identified that gives these numbers.
Each figure is also assigned a healing property in the literature that has grown up around the set. The atlas records that such properties are asserted and takes no position on whether any effect follows. Nothing on this page should be read as a statement that listening to a tone produces a physical or psychological result. What the entry describes is a modern practice, its stated origin and the claims made for it, which is a different thing from an endorsement of those claims.
