When the Third Life-Stage Closes

The Third Pinnacle Ending is the age at which the third of the four life-stages comes to a close, found by adding nine to the Second Pinnacle Ending. After it, the fourth and final pinnacle begins and runs, unbroken, to the end of life. The Third Pinnacle is read as the late-middle season, and its ending marks the passage into the closing stage; a person whose second pinnacle ended at forty completes the third at forty-nine, and enters the fourth thereafter. It is the last of the datable pinnacle thresholds, since the fourth has no fixed end.

As the last of the three pinnacle endings that can be calculated rather than simply assumed to run to the close of life, the Third Pinnacle Ending is where the mid-century elaborators of the chart, Florence Campbell's 1931 Your Days Are Numbered and Juno Jordan's 1965 book among them, generally stop adding new datable thresholds; the Fourth Pinnacle that follows it is read as open-ended rather than closed by a further nine-year step. Not every modern numerologist works with a four-stage pinnacle scheme at all: Dan Millman's widely read 1993 book The Life You Were Born to Live builds its system around the single Life Path number, without any pinnacle apparatus layered onto it, a reminder that the datable thresholds described throughout this family of articles are a particular, mid-century elaboration rather than a feature of modern numerology as such.
