The Third Pinnacle

The Third Pinnacle is the third of the four life-periods of modern numerology, and it is calculated differently from the first two: it is the sum of the First and Second Pinnacle numbers, reduced, a figure derived from the two that precede it rather than directly from the birth date. It is often called the Pinnacle of maturity, governing a central and formative span in which the lessons of the first two periods are brought together.

The four Pinnacles form a sequence of developmental phases whose boundaries are set by the Life Path, and the third, drawing on both earlier numbers, is read as a period of synthesis. The scheme is part of the Pythagorean numerology assembled in the United States in the early twentieth century by Balliett and Jordan and elaborated by later writers; it is a modern construction, a method of dividing the life into themed periods, and the Pythagorean label is a matter of convention within the system rather than a claim of ancient descent that the evidence would support.
